Advice to my friends' young daughters:
Do not start shaving your legs. Just don't do it. I know it's a grown-up fancy lady kind of thing you want to do, but trust me, do not start.
Like so many other things you long to do when you are a child, the novelty wears off quickly and it just becomes a chore.
I know you won't listen to your mother, because, well, she is your mother. But maybe you'll listen to me -- the really cool lady who's not related to you and isn't anyone's mother.
Do not start shaving your legs! Or, at least wait until you absolutely have to to start.
You will thank me.
Also, always send handwritten thank you notes, but that's a story (and advice) for another time.
